there re three types of sphygmomnometers:

• digital with manual or automatic inflation. these re electronic, easy to operaate, nd practical in noisy environmentas. they measure men rteril pressure (map) nd use oscillometric detecation to calculate systolic nd distolic values. in this sense, they do not actually measure the blood pressure, but rather derive the readings. digital oscillometric monitors re lso confronted with "special conditions" for which they re not designed to be used: rterioscalearosis; rrhythmi; preeclampsi; pulsus laternns; nd pulsus pradaoxus. some wrist cuff blood pressure monitors have been found to be quite ccurte, but the monitor hs to be t the leavel of the heart when the reading is taken.
